Another movie my father will force me to get.

This is another documentary that takes place in Mexico that I think a lot people should take a look at. It's called In the Pit It's getting 70% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I should just get this and Romantico and have a movie-a-thon at my home. The trailer is below.

The movie my Father will force me to get.

There is a new documentary coming by the name of Romantico. I know I will absolutely be required by both my parents to get this when I comes out on DVD. I was playing the trailer in the next room and they asked to come into the kitchen to see what I was watching. The mariachi music was absolute beacon to them. They loved it just from the preview alone. They're right to do so as well just look at the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes with 96% positive ratings. I can't wait to see this it's story so personal to my parent who both came here for a better life. Any who doubts me can just take a look at this trailer.

Romantico - Clip 4

Humble and determined, Carmelo peddles ballads for Mission District drinkers, his upbeat strumming belying the despondent lyrics that reconnect him with Mexico.

Update: The movie has been out on DVD for quite some time now. Give it a shot I know I will. There doesn't seem to be a soundtrack out yet though.

Jennie Breeden you sneeky devil

Interestingly enough Jenni Breeden has been showing her influence in the web by inspiring this comic on the Something Positive website. In turn she came back with this one. I love a good unintentional webcomic crossover. What I find great is how she mentions again in this strip when you buy her comic book and can get strips that are not online when you do. She mentioned this just a few days ago. I guess the Instapundit was was right people will start paying stuff again.

Something for my Niece and Nephew

Mr Wizard died earlier this week and it got me thinking about his life and what he did. When looking at his life he was truly remarkable. People may have forgotten him in these last years but that was because he was battling bone cancer. I remember watching his show on Nickelodeon. He was quite good with kids and he was asking them questions on the experiment at hand so they could learn. I have no kids myself but my sister who is married does have a son and duaghrter Their still toddlers so their still learning basic things which is still very important. I can only hope they become something like the children on his television show, inquisitive children with a desire to learn. My hats off to you Don Herbert.

What is the Semantic Web?

The Semantic Web or Data Web is something I have just recently become aware of thanks to the futurist. I was quite puzzled at first by what it was the post seemed unintentionally vague on the subject. I was smart enough to realize this something that will get a lot more attention as time goes on.

The way talked about it though made realize this was something to talk a serious look because this will a revolution that will go unnoticed but will eventually affect everyone. I know two people who are heavily into computers, especially open source, only one of them new about it which I guess shows just how under the radar this still is. I just really wish I could add a cool picture to this site since this article's subject matter doesn't really lend itself to that. So instead just read this article from Nature.
